Japan’s inbound tourism has reached unprecedented heights once again, welcoming 3,908,900 foreign visitors in April 2025, a 28.5% increase compared to the same month in 2024. This not only surpasses the previous all-time monthly record set in January 2025 (3,781,629 visitors) but also marks the first time Japan has exceeded 3.9 million international arrivals in a single month.
Cherry Blossoms and Global Holidays Boost Tourism
The surge in visitor numbers can be attributed to several seasonal and global factors. The continuation of the cherry blossom season—a peak travel period in Japan—sustained high demand from various international markets. Additionally, Easter holidays in parts of Asia, Europe, and Oceania spurred a notable increase in overseas travel, further elevating Japan’s appeal as a destination.
