Japan’s inbound tourism continues to surge, with 3,428,000 international visitors in August 2025, marking a 16.9% increase year-on-year. This figure not only surpassed the previous August record of 2,933,381 visitors set in 2024 by more than 490,000 people, but also marked the first time August arrivals exceeded 3 million, setting a new milestone for the month.
Strong Demand Driven by Holidays and Global Interest
The rise was supported by sustained popularity of travel to Japan and increased demand during the school holiday season across East Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and the Middle East.
